Many people choose a word for their year. Do you have a word for 2016? Resilient!

What is one book have you read over and over again? Le Petit Prince

What is your favourite quote?
“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and twice as beautiful as you’d ever imagined”

What is your favourite song to practice yoga to? Big Light (Houses, A Quiet Darkness)

How do you recharge your batteries? Go the to water. Sit in quiet. This might be the true answer to the next question. I’d frequently cycle down to the water in Ontario and just sit – since I was about 13. We are so blessed in Victoria to have the power and beauty of the ocean so nearby.

How did you begin to practice yoga? My very first class was at a gym downtown Toronto. It was terrible…they had those thick blue gym mats, the teacher stood on a podium – I was wearing socks (no one told me!). About a year later I started going to karma classes weekly – it was a completely different experience. A few months after that a hectic work schedule had me starting at 6am classses…I noticed changes. No 3 o’clock wall, calmer interactions with coworkers, less stress with corporate bureaucracy…and less fear of leaving it behind. I’ve oscillated to and from that timing of practice (sleep!) but kept it consistent ever since.

What is your favorite season and why? Autumn. A reminder that things are always in transition.

What do you like most about the Victoria Yoga Conference? I love the local vibe and excitement around it! So many wonderful people in a setting that feels like both a coming together of people from a far and a reunion of those connected, perhaps without even knowing. I’m so excited to meet and learn from everyone!
