Teacher Feature: Cameron Gilley

What do you like most about the Victoria Yoga Conference?  What I like most about the Victoria Yoga Conference is that it is a home-grown gathering, focused on the local Yoga community and giving back to that community with a heartfelt weekend of growth and shared experience.

What is your favourite quote? “Not only is the Universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.” ~ Sir Arthur Eddington

What book have you read over and over again? A book that I come back to again and again is “Zen Body-Being” by Peter Ralston. An amazing book about tapping in to the true miracle of being embodied.

What is your morning ritual?  My morning ritual consists of a splash of cold water to the face, 20 minutes of meditation, lemon water with activated charcoal…all finished off with a home made latte.

If you could spend one day anywhere in the world where would it be? If I could spend one day anywhere in the world it would most definitely be in the magnificent solitude of Antarctica.

Do you have a personal philosophy you live by? My personal philosophy for life is very simply to always remain curious.

Cameron whole-heartedly believes in the transformative power of Yoga. Having received his Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Certification in 2002, and drawing from his experience in Hatha, Yin Yoga, Meditation and Martial Arts, in each class Cam devotes his energy to creating a space for students to access their own innate presence through posture, flow, breath and awareness. Whatever your walk of life, he invites you to come experience for yourself the liberating and life-affirming bliss that is YOGA.
