Orange Protein Power Smoothie

Guest Post by Lindsay Rose

As I anticipate all the ahhh-mazing conferences that are coming up both locally and globally, a rush of excitement ripples through me as I think of all the information, inspiration and goodness I always end up gaining.

For me, the focus of any conference is for my own health and wellness.
Health of my body, mind and spirit.
I know my spirit will be soaring by the end of every conference, but I want to make sure my body is going to still be feeling just as yummy after multiple days of activity. Not only am I attending events, but sometimes I also provide chair massage for up to 8 hours a day. I need to be sure I will have enough energy to keep me moving, massaging and mindfully meditating, yoga-ing, or remember heaps of wisdom during the entire weekend.

A challenge that often arises when I attend a conference or full weekend event is how to best nourish my body while being away from home:

  • How can I be assured that I will still get my fruits and veggies?
  • Will I be eating foods that will be giving me energy instead of working against my body and depleting what energy I have?
  • How can I avoid heading to the closest ‘fast food’ joint because I only have 20 more minutes until my next class starts?

My no-fail solution: Smoothies.

I’m not talking about any ol’ smoothie…. I’m talking about my super-healthy, protein packed, mega smoothie that gives me sustained energy for hours!
It’s quick to drink between yoga sessions or chair massage clients, and it’s full of only healthy goodness.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 cup Blueberries
  • 1 handful green leafy veg (spinach, kale, bok choy)
  • 1 tbsp Hemp Seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground Chai Seeds
  • 1/2 cup ground Whole Oats
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cup liquid (water, coconut milk)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Combine all ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth (adding more water to desired consistency).
Pour into a large mason jar or smoothie jug for a great to-go option.

Enjoy and see you at the conference!
